Stop the Press!! The Republican Party can’t take a joke.

An interesting moment came on day 3 of the Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans. Impersonator, Reggie Brown, delivered a mock-up speech as President Obama.

His set initially included a number of race-based jokes which the crowd enjoyed, but as soon as he turned his attention on the Republican Party nominees, the mood quickly changed.

Some of his excerpts included: “The economy is frail, it’s barely moving, it’s gasping for air, and desperately clinging to life, just like Newt Gingrich’s campaign. Ah c’mon, he’s in serious trouble, his consultants are dropping faster than Anthony Weiner’s pants in an AOL chatroom”. Surely anyone can see that’s bloody funny?!

He also made jokes about Mitt Romney’s personal life and Tim Pawlenty’s lack of spine, (both justified). When he moved on to talk about current darling of the GOP Michelle Bachmann, his mic was cut and was hastily removed from the stage.

Advice to the Louisiana Republican Party – If you’re going to lower the bar by hiring a stand-up to mock President Obama, don’t whine and take him off the stage because he dares to point the arrows at you too. It shows hypocrisy, arrogance and a laughable hyper-sensitivity.
